Our 10 day Advanced Wedding and Portrait Photography course has been designed for the keen amateur to the improving professional who is looking to develop their photography skills into a profitable business.
The first 5 days of our 10 day Advanced Wedding and Portrait Photography course is a combination of our 3 day Portrait photography course and 2 day Wedding photography course. The first 3 days starts with understanding exposures (ISO, Aperture and Time) and metering the light, using Photoshop and studio equipment (including home/mobile studios) and how to set-up the studio lights for different looks including ratio lighting, high key and low key. This will be supported with numerous practical portrait photography sessions in the studio using a variety of models, including males, females and children/babies.
The last 2 days of the first week covers the whole aspect of wedding photography, from obtaining bookings through to producing the final album. In addition to the theory there will also be shoots with Bride and Groom models on location at a local beauty spot, at home and in a church. We will also cover technical difficulties you may encounter while photographing the intimate portraits of the bride and groom as well as how to set-up and pose the group photographs.
On the second week you will cover more advanced skills, along with numerous shoots with models both in the studio and out on location. This will involve using a wide range of studio lighting and attachments to create various lighting set-ups/techniques in the studio for shoots including, Bump and New-borns, flash and blur and low- key romantic. For the shoots out on location you will be using off camera flash with a remote trigger system and various attachments on the camera flash for urban style and life style portraits.

On completion of the course, students are welcome to spent two weeks work experience with us in our studio. This will involve the day to day running of a commercial studio, helping with shoots, editing, printing and dealing with customers.

All our courses are aimed at the keen amateur to the improving professional. No formal entry qualifications are required to attend this
course, only an interest for photography, willingness to learn and lots of enthusiasm.
Once booked onto a course we will send you some pre-course notes to help bring you up to speed. On the First day of your course you will be given your course packs that contain all the course notes.
For the course you will need a digital SLR with a small zoom lens, a flash unit for your camera, AA batteries and a laptop. However any
equipment you do not have will be lent to you free of charge.
Lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day.
Does the cost for the photography course include everything I need? Or are there any extra fees?
The cost of the photography course covers all that you will need. The only extra cost will be for accommodation if required.
Do I need to have some experience in photography before I can come on a course?
You do not need to have any commercial experience; however it would benefit you if you have a good basic understanding of your camera and exposures when taking photographs.
What do I need to bring with me to the course?
Your camera equipment including; camera, small zoom lens, flash unit and memory cards, laptop and card reader (all are available during the courses to borrow if required).
Is there any back-up to help me after the course?
Once you have attended the course we offer continuous support with no restriction on time scale. You are always welcome to email, call or visit us.
What is the dress code?
There is no formal dress code. We advise you to bring something warm and weatherproof for when we will be shooting on location.n.
What use of the images taken on the course will I have?
All images taken on the course can be used for promotional purposes i.e. websites, brochures, portfolio’s.
What is the maximum number of students on each course?
All courses are limited to six students with up to three full-time members of staff. Digital Manipulation courses are limited to 10 students
Terms of Business
- A non-returnable deposit of £100 is required when booking with the balance to be paid on the first day of the seminar. Failure to give four weeks’ notice of cancellation of seminar will require full payment still to be paid
- Courses booked less than four weeks before the course start date- Full payment required when booking, no cancellations or refunds will be given
- Bookings from outside the UK- Full payment required when booking, no cancellations or refunds will be given
- Payment is required in full when booking private seminars
- All major credit cards are accepted
- All resettlement students booking through ELCAS and The CTP will adhere to ELCAS and The CTP’s own terms of business.
10 Day Advanced Wedding and Portrait Photography Course:
The 2 weeks can be done consecutively, or you can have a break between the weeks to allow for a personal development period.
